Unsoiled by worldly things, like the lotus flower in the water.
The Lotus Sutra & Its Opening and Closing Sutras, p.263
In the history of Buddhism, the Lotus Sutra is one of the most influential and widespread sutras. Translated into numerous languages, the Lotus Sutra emphasises that every human being possesses unlimited inner potential, promotes profound philosophy and thoughts such as the dignity of life, humanism and harmonious equality, revealing the fundamental principles for happiness and peace of humanity.
To enable the Malaysian public to get to know the profound wisdom and universal values inherent in the Lotus Sutra, Malaysia is honoured to be the 11th country in the world to host the Lotus Sutra Exhibition, which is a precious heritage for humanity that promotes peace and harmonious coexistence.
This exhibition is initiated and curated by the Institute of Oriental Philosophy (IOP).  In organising this exhibition, IOP has published and shared with the world the results of their many years of academic and archaeological research on the transmission of the Lotus Sutra.  The exhibition will be presented through valuable historical photographs, illustrations, descriptions, animation in addition to more than 100 pieces of artefacts which include the manuscripts of the Lotus Sutra in various languages, replicas of the Dunhuang Grottoes and relics. This excellent exhibition is rich with historical education, aesthetic significance and academic values that introduce the profound messages of the Lotus Sutra in a simple and easy-to-understand format. All are welcome to view the exhibition.
